Kim & Julie

We didn't have the best weather for Kim & Julie's wedding last Saturday, but that didn't stop it from being a great day!  The entire event was held at the Montreal Airport Sheraton hotel, which has an interesting circular design with an outdoor garden in the middle.  Unfortunately the looming threat of rain made it impossible to hold the ceremony outside, but it held off long enough for us to get some nice pre-ceremony shots.  They have an interesting archway covered in what appeared to be grapevines that gave us a few interesting shots.

We weren't able to go anywhere for portraits after the ceremony because by then it had started raining, but we were able to find a few good spots in the hotel to shoot.  That's a sign of a good wedding venue: how well it works as a Plan B portrait location.  All you need is a nice stone wall or a large abstract painting for a background and a little off-camera flash to punch up the lighting a bit and you're set!  We also found another reception room that was being set up for an event the next day that made for a nice setting.

As for the reception... I don't ask for much.  All I want is a big room with high, white ceilings.  That's what I got, and I was happy.  The DJ, Sandy Duperval, was great!  All the right music at all the right times, including an interesting version of a Queen song I never thought I would hear at a wedding. As for the food, I was pleasantly surprised!  It's not easy to keep both good and consistent quality when you're preparing food for over 80 people, but they did it.  I've been to more than my share of receptions that just couldn't pull it off.
