Go Unplugged for your Wedding Ceremony!
Unplugged Wedding Ceremony!? Like, acoustic?
I have a simple wedding tip for you today: think about having what's known as an "Unplugged Ceremony."
If you're planning a micro-wedding with just a few, people then this won't apply to you.
If, on the other hand, you're planning on having your wedding after things ease up and we're allowed to have large gatherings again, then going unplugged is definitely something to consider!
What it means is making sure all your guests know that during the ceremony, they will be asked to leave their cameras, phones, and any other device that takes photo or video turned off so they can better enjoy the ceremony. You can mention this in the invitations and you can also place a sign just outside the venue to make sure everyone knows.
Your officiant will definitely appreciate this! I've been to more than a few weddings where about half the guests think they're the official photographer. They spend the whole ceremony wandering around snapping photos. It's very distracting for the photographer, the videographer and especially the officiant. I've been to several ceremonies with officiants who have had so many bad experiences with people running around taking photos that they've just decided to ban all photography during the ceremony - even the official photographer has to put the camera down!
All you need to do is have your officiant ask everybody to stay in their seats and not take photos. That way, they can watch the ceremony and enjoy it to its fullest. Everybody wins!
